Perhaps mountains were meant to inspire our gaze upward, or to be climbed, written about, or captured on film, frame or canvas. Perhaps they exist simply to make long drives down the #405 bearable and even breathtaking...
There may be many purposes for mountains, but I don't think one of them is a monetary profit for a few thoughtless companies who vandalize these ancient treasures for the purpose of mining dirty fuel (while reeking havoc on the mountains and their surrounding communities in the process).
