July 9, 2011 marks South Sudan's becoming the world's newest nation. If you regularly follow this blog, you know that I think that much hanky panky went into the the coming of the monumental event. Some may think that this signals an end to the horrific violence in Darfur and the time to turn our attention elsewhere. Unfortunately, this is not the case. So on the official birth of the Republic of South Sudan, I respectfully salute the hundreds of thousands of lives lost and shattered in this conflict and I pray that despite all appearances to the contrary, the survivors will be able to live peaceful, self-governed lives. As Save Darfur Coalition reminds us to do, I will remain abreast of the goings on in the Sudan (North and South), so that those who may wish to continue to harm others, and those who may still be in harm's way, know that people who care are still watching.
Save Save Darfur Coalition provides up to date news about the impoverished, yet oil rich country of Republic of South Sudan and the ongoing conflict there. To learn more Click Here!
